From the series "The travelers souls" here "Souls travelers V".
This painting is a flame painting on copper sheet that is heated with a torch, then the copper sheet is glued to a wooden panel and covered with epoxy to protect the patina.
What is flame painting on copper?
It is about using a flame to create colors on the copper with enough control to produce a picture with intentional shapes, patterns, colors, composition and design.
The colors you see on copper are actually an oxidation that naturally forms on the copper surface when heated by the flame. Whenever the copper is heated (for example with an oxygen / propane flame), we actually add oxygen molecules to the surface of the copper, which forms an oxidation layer. The more we heat, the more the copper oxidizes and the molecular structure changes and thickens, it is the variations in the thickness of the oxidation that will cause the variety of colors you can see.
The creation of paintings on copper sheet, is my way of exploring and discovering different effects and proposing something new to art lovers in an unknown and unexplored art world. Each new creations is a challenge and it is what makes me progress in my quest, my expression and my art.
